About the creator of the Universe

Taras Yoom

Taras Yoom is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist based in Bangkok, recognized with numerous accolades, including the International Design Awards, A' Design Award, Good Design Awards, Lexus Design Awards, and more. He is the creator of the Yoomoota art universe and is well-known for integrating his knowledge of biology and nature with a personalized approach.

Before earning a degree in medicine and exploring his creativity in a hospital setting, Yoom shifted his focus to art. This unique combination of experiences has led to the fusion of design, artistic expression, and biophysics in his work. The Yoomoota universe, a hallmark of his creations, intricately weaves together the inner workings of the human condition with natural structures, offering a parallel realm that reflects both body and mind. The artworks are part of the collections of The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen.

Taras Yoom has created masterpieces across various mediums, including sculpture, collectible design objects, furniture, paintings, and more. Drawing inspiration from the multidimensional and deeply investigative methodology of Leonardo da Vinci, Yoom approaches art as a sophisticated tool to explore the intricate interplay between the structure of humanity and the natural world. Today, he defines his style as biomorphic surrealism.

“I felt like an art and my passion for design began to conquer my soul, constantly allowing me to experiment and invent something new. From the very beginning, I knew that it would be the continuous experiment with the visual functionality of everyday objects that can change a person's attitude to familiar things.”— Taras Yoom
